ÒItÕs all about the Music. It always has been.Ó

What started on May 25th, 2001, Three has become the only club in Milwaukee to be dedicated solely to electronic dance music.  The reputation for high quality djs and sound and lighting has made it a cornerstone for nightclubs in the city.  While many clubs have come and gone since its inception, Three has been busier than ever.  With constant upgrades to the interior as well as sound and lighting, it remains fresh for the army of regulars that are in attendance week in and week out. With a capacity of 153 there is often a line at the front door.

The staff behind the bar as well as in back of house is some of the most experienced in the city, many of which have been at Three for more than 4 years and many of which have 15 plus years in the service industry.  All of the employees are guided by the owners who have various expertise in promotions, bar, and business management.  It is also one of the only clubs in the city to have a full time sound and light technician on staff.  These are some of the reasons that many of the cityÕs djs call Three their regular hang out.  Three has been awarded ÒBest NightclubÓ in Milwaukee in 2004 and 2005 by the readers of the local publication ÒThe Shepherd ExpressÓ.

Promotions:

When a contract for an artist is complete the promotions department goes to work immediately.  Using flyers, posters, and online websites many of the events are advertised upward of a month in advance.

Flyers are done in house using any art or fonts given to us by the booking agents as well as within the guidelines specified in the artistÕs contract and are generally run in batches of 5000.  All of which are printed on high quality paper stock and glossy.

Posters are done in the same fashion and are positioned through out the club and at various locations through out the city.  Three also utilizes electronic ads through out the club.

Web based advertising is usually done on (but not limited to) MilwaukeeNights.com, UndergroundMilwaukee.com, and TheMilwaukeeScene.com.  This includes pictures of the flyers on the main pages as well as threads in the online forums.  Some events on the forums alone generate between 40 and 75 additional posts as well as over 200 hits.  Myspace.com as well as Facebook.com are also used for promotions.  Myspace.com/three has a complete schedule for the upcoming month as well as all flyers.  Threelounge.com is also used for advertising as well as text-based messaging.

DJ booth

The DJ booth at Three is the best in the city and maybe all of Wisconsin.  It is fully floating so there are no feedback problems. 1½ inch separates the mixer, turntables, and CD players from the walls and floor of the DJ booth.  It is anchored to the foundation of the building using over a ton of concrete, rebar, and steel filled with silica.  Monitors are 2 stereo MakieÕs.  The DJ booth itself has enough room for the DJ, Lighting operator, and one or two additional people.  There is ample space for record bags and cocktails.  It also includes a refrigerator for water and Red Bull.

House sound.

The house system includes 4 18Ó JBL subs, 4 15Ó JBL mids and 4 1 and ¼ Ò highs.  These are powered by a Crown CE 2000 and a Crest CV 2000.  All are controlled by a DBX DriveRack PA drive rack system.  The subs are under the DJ booth with several hundred pounds of sand on top of them while they are mounted on rubber pucks.  Behind them is several feet of insulation.  By doing this we have achieved dual barrier amplification.  In effect we are using the floor as another speaker.  Db levels are running at the legal limit for the city of Milwaukee.  124Db.  The entire system is in excellent working order due to weekly maintenance.  ThreeÕs  sound technician is on premise during all operating hours.  Due to the shape and size of the room, this is all of the sound that it needs to be completely audible in all frequencies.

Lighting.

The booth is well lit from behind by two Chauvet Colorsplash Jrs. As well as two PAR 64s.  All functions of the booth are completely visible by the DJ.  Dance floor lighting uses three Martin MX-1s, one Martin Wizard, two American DJ dj spots, one American DJ Megastrobe.  One American DJ Raptor, 5 auxiliary strobes, and 8 Chauvet Colorsplash Jrs throughout the club.  All of which is controlled by Martin Light Jockey 2.0.  Other Martins( i.e. Mac250Õs) and High- End Systems Technobeams can be brought in upon request if given two weeks notice.
